175w HPS Grow Light w/ Remote Ballast

This is our most popular lighting system, perfect for the hobbyist hydroponic grower with a small to medium size garden. This light is extremely powerful, and can cover an area with intense light of up to 4 foot x 4 foot. Yet, the overall unit is relatively small, and the remote ballast can be mounted anywhere. The bulb is high quality, and will last for several months, or even over a year if properly taken care of -- under heavy use. Will last indefinitely under light use if properly taken care of.

This unit is wired throughout with heavy insulated grounded cable immune to water and moisture. The ballast is also water tight, and can be mounted in any orientation. High quality materials used throughout insulate the delicate ballast in a heavy composite electrical box. The bulb is housed in a ceramic heavy duty light fixture, mounted to a steel electrical socket w/ twin mounting holes. The fixture is such that it can be mounted horizontal as normal or vertical for vertical growth. Extremely versatile, and powerful enough for plants to thrive.

Because the bulb stays fairly cool when saturated with cool moving air from your intake fan, the plants can grow very close to the bulb without danger of burning. We recommend mounting a fan orientated to directly hit the light bulb, as well as cool your garden's canopy.

This lighting system includes a 400w high pressure sodium grow bulb, remote ballast, electrical wiring and three prong plug outlet. It is shown with an optional light reflecting hood from Homegrown Hydroponics, which directs additional bounced light back onto your garden. This item may also be purchased with a professional reflector at an additional charge. The stand-alone unit is sold without a reflector.

This unit is very economical on electricity usage, despite it's high light output, and costs less than $20 a month to run under regular usage. Perfect for the small or medium sized home garden. Highly reccomended alternative to the more expensive commercial hydroponic lighting systems!
